We collaborated with the MCPS Director of Psychological Services to integrate an Asian American psychologist from Frost Middle School into the magnet high schools across our county. Recognizing the considerable Asian American student population in these institutions and the lack of representation in terms of mental health support, we took proactive steps to bridge this gap. By bringing in an Asian American psychologist, we aimed to create a supportive environment that resonates with the unique experiences of Asian American students. With their firsthand understanding of cultural nuances and the challenges faced by these students, the psychologist is better equipped to provide effective counseling and guidance. Through this approach, we are not only addressing mental health needs but also sending a powerful message that diversity and inclusivity are at the core of our educational ethos.
